PERSONALISED NUTRITION AND HEALTH
Final Bachelor Project

How can we collect data about eating habits of consumers, which can be used to give personal dietary advice to move consumers to a healthier lifestyle? Philips Research introduced this question during my graduation project at Philips Research, High Tech Campus Eindhoven. There are large numbers of food diaries to help us lose weight, but they are highly time consuming and difficult to retain for a long period of time. Not only-but also advice does not provide personalised feedback that takes peoples preferences and their physical, mental and environmental situation into account. For this reason my responsibility was to get user insights about the user’s experiences of losing weight and tracking their eating behaviour. What are their issues, problems, thoughts, needs, pains and gains?

Individual Final Bachelor Project 4.3/4.4 – CMD

In collaboration with: Philips research ; Jettie Hoonhout

Key learning points:  Iterative process; UX research methods; Conducting extensive interviews; Conducting cultural probe studies; Thematic analysis; User-centered design processes and approaches; Paper prototyping .

To receive user insights, 8 participants who where losing weight were interviewed and participated in a cultural probe study. Combined with user research and insights, I sketched, made customer journeys, personas, prototypes, wireframes and did some paper prototyping tests with the participants to really understand the user and make sure the product meets the needs of the user.

The final delivery consisted of specifications for the application, user experience flow and wireframes. Unfortunately I can’t share any more content/concepts/prototypes of this graduation project, because this project is still continuing .
